About Alesha

Hi, I’m Alesha! I am a gardening enthusiast and Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).

I moved to Edmonton over 10 years ago and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in 2014. In 2016 I started the Master of Science Speech Language Pathology program at the University of Alberta and am currently finishing my PhD in Rehabilitation Science. My research has focused on speech physiology and learning more about how we coordinate muscles in our face, neck and chest in order to speak.

I worked for two years as an education assistant with the Edmonton Public School Board and more recently gained experience providing telehealth speech and language services for preschool aged children. I have training in the area of speech sound disorders and have also taken the Hanen It Takes Two to Talk® training program.

I love working with each family to build a plan that is suited to their needs and I enjoy finding different ways to keep sessions and home practice engaging, effective and sustainable. I love answering caregiver questions, and make it my mission to make sure that everyone understands not only the “what” and "how" of what we're working on, but also the “why”.

In my spare time I enjoy gardening, reading and quilting. During the summer I love to take advantage of the river valley and other green spaces in Edmonton. I'm very excited to be joining the team at Simon Says Speech Inc!
